The goal of the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) class is to prepare children to be ready for the school years ahead. Primarily, the students learn social skills, math, reading, and communication skills. Learning in the VPK classroom is achieved through structured activities and thus invoking multiple intelligence. For example, blocks can help a child build, learn colors, learn numbers, and also since they do it as a group activity they learn to share. The activities like painting, clay modeling, and paper cutting all help students develop their fine motor skills.  A periodic VPK assessment is done to bench mark what a child is learning in the classroom and typically shows the progress made in readiness for Kindergarten throughout the year.

On top of this, VPK at AFA is completely free for children turning 4 before September first.
